The Latta Revitalization Commission (LRC) is thrilled to be hosting a Harvest Festival for the community on Saturday, October 18th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in and around Veteran’s Park in Downtown Latta. This will be a day of fellowship, fun and all things FALL!
We will begin the day promptly at 9 a.m. with a blessing and thankful prayer for the bounty our community is blessed with. Latta’s rich agriculture history will be on display with antique tractors and implements along with an old fashioned hay ride for all to enjoy. Free face painting provided by talented Latta High School Art Students and corn hole will provide fun for the kids along with storytelling by the Latta Library staff inside the Old Vidalia schoolhouse. Families can also take advantage of a free harvest display sponsored by Arbor One Farm Credit to snap their fall photographs. Bring your cameras or smartphones!! The original Latta Post Office and the Dillon County Museum will be open for touring, and the Latta Library will be having a special book sale.
The goal is also to highlight and celebrate local products. Local honey, free wild game samples and famous local BBQ will all be available along with homemade baked goods, jams, jellies, coffee and cider. This will also be the place to purchase all of your harvest décor needs including pumpkins, Indian corn, gourds, baled wheat straw, fall flowers and plants. There will be something for everyone so please come support this festival of the harvest in Historic Downtown Latta. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our community and gather together at harvest time!
