Lately, it has been hard to ignore the state of some of the United States flags that are flying at some of the businesses in the county and some that have been placed by local governments.
It’s time for some of these places to take a hard look at these flags and see if they are in a condition that respects the flag, our nation, and the patriotism of our citizens. Many will take a look and decide it is time to retire some of these flags which are worn, faded, and in some cases, tattered.
The U.S. Flag Code states that “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.” Please take a look at the flag that you are flying, and see if it is in an appropriate condition. It’s very easy sometimes to overlook what may seem like a small thing, but it is really a bigger thing than many people think. The flag a very important symbol of our country and should be given the respect that it deserves. Flying a worn flag does not do this. Take a look at your flags and replace them when needed. It’s the right thing to do.
