Former Dillon Wildcat Joe Blue announced last week that he would be enrolling at Georgia Prep Academy in Atlanta this fall.
Blue had originally signed on to play for the University of South Carolina earlier this year but was denied admission based on academics, despite being cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Blue lost an appeal to the USC Admission Board and has enrolled instead at Georgia Prep.
Blue was the first USC commitment for the 2014 season, pledging in January of 2013 and signing in February 2014.
The 5’11” running back was ranked as the 16th best prospect in the state and was a Shrine Bowl selection, among numerous other honors, including All Region and Class 2A First Team All State on Defense. He had 646 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns in 2012 with the Wildcats. He was a four-year starter and was a part of two state championship teams.
Blue fielded many offers before settling on USC, and after he was denied admission, he considered Maryland, East Carolina, Coastal Carolina, and S.C. State before settling on Georgia Prep.
Blue has already reported for practice at Georgia Prep and will play linebacker. He says he plans to attend the school for at least one semester before attempting to sign on with a Division One program again.
