The Lake View Wild Gators made a strong showing on Friday night in a scrimmage with East Clarendon.

No official score was kept, but Lake View found the end zone early on with a hand off from the quarterback to senior running back #9 Anthony Bines. Bines slipped through a hole to score for the Gators. Lake View’s #5 Adam Page also sacked the quarterback in the scrimmage.

Lake View coach Daryl King says that the Wild Gators will be working hard this season. Lake View finished 6-7 last season and after a rough start, the Gators progressed all the way to the Lower State Championship where they fell to Timmonsville.

“We hope to improve on what we did last year,” he said. “We’re working on conditioning every day.”

The team lost 14 players from last season, but returned a dozen seniors. The coaching staff is also returning and includes Johnny Dew, Cloy Ford, Larry Inman, Jonathan Robinson, Andy Ford, and Jeffrey Ceasar.

Lake View will play scrimmage games against Hannah-Pamplico and South Robeson, and also plans to play at the Mullins jamboree.

Lake View will open the regular season at home on Friday, August 22, against Scott’s Branch, and will begin region play on Friday, October 3, at Green Sea-Floyds.
