The Dillon Wildcats made a dominant showing as they took the field on Friday night to host Hartsville for a scrimmage game. Though no official score was kept, the Wildcats found the end zone on three of their first four offensive possessions.
Last season the Wildcats finished 12-2 with an undefeated 5-0 in Region 8-2A. The WIldcats claimed the Class 2A, Division I state title with a 41-3 win over Fairfield-Central. Dillon is looking for their third state title in a row this year, and Coach Jackie Hayes says it’s the best offense the school has had in three decades.
The Wildcats were recently ranked fourth in MaxPrep’s rankings of the top programs in the state over the last decade. It was a decade that saw the Wildcats claim four state championship titles with a 122-19 record.
Dillon should have another outstanding season this year, and will have another chance to make a strong showing at the Dennis Miller Jamboree of Champions at Marlboro County.
Dillon will kick off the regular season at home on Friday, August 22, when they are scheduled to host North Myrtle Beach. The Wildcats will open region play against Aynor on Friday, October 3.
