The evening of June 5th, the Latta Rotary Club held a fundraiser hosted by Club members Cindy and LaFon LeGette at their home on Dothan Road. Along with wine, cheeses from around the world and a wonderful array of member prepared dishes presented in the rustic barn, the 200 plus guests were able to tour the LeGette’s “Vintage Village” comprised of outbuildings full of all kinds of collectibles. Adding to the festivities was music provided by Acoustic Accomplices.
The Club sold tickets for the event to add to its projects fund which it uses for a variety of service projects and as matching funds for district grants. These local projects include shoes and clothing for deserving school children, dictionaries and thesauruses for 3rd and 7th graders, scholarships for graduating seniors, youth leadership camp for rising seniors, and support of the local Boy Scout troop. In addition to local projects, the club supports Rotary International projects such as the eradication of polio, clean drinking water and Alzheimer’s research.
The Club would like to thank all of the community members who purchased tickets. Tommy Parker of Blenheim made a large contribution to the event and Ronnie Gardner sold the most tickets. These efforts resulted in the Club adding over $19,000 to its service projects fund.
