Several local baseball and softball players picked up post-season honors recently.

Latta’s Donell Stanley was named to the Class A All-State Baseball team and was named the Class A Player of the Year by the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association.

Stanley helped lead the Vikings to the state title series with four home runs and .524 average in his senior year. Stanley is committed to play football for the Gamecocks in the fall.

Vikings Christian Hendrix and John Kever Love were also named to the Class A All-State team, and Dillon’s Weston Bailey and Duncan Callahan were named to the Class 2A All-State team. Loris’s Tanner Chock earned Player of the Year honors in Class 2A baseball.

In softball, the South Carolina Coaches Association for Women’s Sports named Latta’s Macy Hyatt and Lake View’s Marissa Tyndall and Morgan Herlong to the Class A All-State team.

In Class 2A, Dillon’s Shayna Covington and Shaquailla German were both named All-State.

Dillon’s Covington and Tara Grimsley were also chosen for the Class 3A/2A North-South All Star game, and Latta’s Anna Rogers and Lake View’s Morgan Herlong were chosen for the Class 4A/1A North-South game.

The All Star games will be held in June in Aiken.
