This recipe I found tucked inside an old cookbook (bought, I think, at an auction) that also had several recipes clipped from a 1984 newspaper. This was handwritten on a piece of notebook paper torn from a composition book. I made it for Easter for the strawberry shortcake, and it was good.

Pound Cake
1 1/3 cups Crisco
3 cups sugar
11⁄4 cups milk
3 cups plain flour
5 eggs
1⁄2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon lemon flavoring
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
1 teaspoon salt

Start in cold oven. Bake 11⁄2  hours at 325 degrees.
