The Latta Vikings shut out Mullins 12-0 in five innings on Friday night in Mullins to wrap up the regular season for the Vikings.
Latta took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning and picked up another in the top of the second before breaking loose for 10 runs in the fourth to seal the win.
Jeremy Jenkins earned the win on the mound, pitching four innings for three hits, one walk, and seven outs. Eric McGirt pitched one inning for the Vikings for one out. For Mullins, Fowler pitched 3.1 innings and Baxley pitched 1.2 innings for one out.
At bat for the Vikings, Donell Stanley went 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBI; Eric McGirt went 2-for-2 with a home run and one RBI; Avery Berry went 2-for-2 with one RBI; Jackson Williams went 1-for-1 with three RBI; and Christian Hendrix had two RBI.
Latta improved to 16-3 overall as they wrapped up the regular season. The Vikings finished with a 9-1 record in Region 8-A for first place in the region.
The Vikings will host Hemingway tonight at 5:30 p.m. in the first round of the Class A District VIII playoffs. The second round will be held on Saturday.
