The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announces that the Administrative Record for the Rownd and Sons Removal Site located in Dillon, Dillon County, South Carolina, is available for public review.
The Administrative Record file includes documents that form the basis for selection of the removal action. A removal action is a short-term cleanup intended to stabilize a site that poses an imminent and substantial threat to human health or the environment. Documents in the record may include, but are not limited to, preliminary assessment and inspection report, test results, and the Action Memorandum. All interested persons are encouraged to review the documents.
The documents will be available for public review during normal business hours at the following locations:
– US EPA, 61 Forsyth Street, SW, Atlanta, GA 30303, Attn: Anita Davis
– Dillon County Library, 600 East Main Street, Dillon, SC 29536, Attn: Yolanda McCormick
The Rownd and Sons Removal Site contained improper storage of oil filled transformers and other oil filled equipment at the Site. There are two main buildings onsite that are the former operations’ buildings. The land use of the surrounding area is primarily residential.
