In game one, Latta earned the win in three innings with Kurstin Hopkins getting the win on the mound. Hopkins struck out four and allowed three hits, three runs, and two walks.
At bat, Brandy Williams went 4-for-4 with five RBI, a triple, and three runs scored to lead the Lady Vikings. Hopkins went 3-for-3 with three runs scored; D’Anna Tanner went 2-for-3 with a RBI and two runs scored; Brittany Cook went 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored; and Kaleigh Caulder hit a double to go 1-for-2 with three runs scored.
In game two, the Vikings battled the Wildcats to a 7-5 win in five innings.
Courtney Bracey pitched three innings for Latta for the win, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out three. Arica Gandy got the save, pitching two innings for one run, one hit, and one out.
At bat for Latta, Kaleigh Caulder, Ashley Prescott, Brittany Cook, and Stephanie Lovett each went 2-for-3. Caulder picked up a RBI and scored two runs, and Cook and Lovett each scored a run for Latta.
The JV Vikings start the season 2-0 and will face Hannah-Pamplico on Monday, March 31.
