Latta residents turned out Saturday morning for a Community Emergency Awareness Event at the Latta Community Center sponsored by the Dillon County Disaster Preparedness Agency.
The audience heard from several speakers including Dillon County Disaster Preparedness Moses Heyward, Floyd Dale Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Bobby Meekins, Dillon County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Larry Abraham, Chris Price of the Latta Fire Department, Shantel Ladson of the Dillon County Animal Shelter, E-911 Director Clarence “Sonny” McRae, and Daniel Moody of EMS. County Administrator Clay Young, County Councilman T.F. “Buzzy” Finklea, Jr. and County Councilman Andrew “Deboy” Graves also made comments. The audience received great information, a number of handouts and goodies, and several door prizes were given away including weather radios, smoke detectors, first aid kits, flashlights, and much more.
