The Latta Vikings fell 72-70 to the Hannah-Pamplico Raiders on Friday night in Pamplico in boys varsity basketball action.
Latta and Hannah-Pamplico were evenly matched in the first half with Latta edging ahead 37-35 to lead at the half. But the Raiders rallied late in the game and Roy Ellis sank a jump shot as time expire to give Hannah-Pamplico the win.
Kartilus McFadden led the Vikings with a team-high 19 points. R.J. McClam added 15, Diez Mungro scored 14, and Tyrell Sabb earned 10, with Donell Stanley adding six and Quane’ Williams scored four.
Jerried Self led Hannah-Pamplico with a game-high 21 points with Roy Ellis scoring 15. Jakar Beach scored nine, and Jordan Jenkins and Nick Eaddy each earned eight with Brandon Williamson scoring seven and Korey Fleming adding four.
Hannah-Pamplico improved to 9-7 overall and 5-2 in Region 8-A while the Vikings slipped to 6-7 overall and 5-2 in the region.
Johnsonville leads Region 8-A with an undefeated 8-0 record and can clinch the title with one more win in its final two games of the regular season. Hannah-Pamplico is in second at 6-2 and Latta is 5-2. Johnsonville was scheduled to face Latta on Tuesday and Hannah-Pamplico on Thursday. Creek Bridge is in position to take fourth place if it wins one of its final two games or if Green Sea-Floyds loses this week.
Latta is scheduled to wrap up the last week of the regular season at home beginning with Lake View on Thursday and Green Sea-Floyds on Friday with game times set for 6 p.m. The Vikings will host Johnsonville on Saturday afternoon to make up Tuesday’s game.
