Plans to apply for a grant for a sidewalk project from the Transportation Alternatives Program were discussed at the Dillon City Council meeting.
The two proposed projects are:
* Phase 1: MLK Jr. 5’ Sidewalk, west side, 2300 linear feet beginning at West Jackson running north to end of property across from Gum St.
Total cost: $299,537.85
City match: $ 59,907.57 (20% cash and/or inkind)
* Phase 2: MLK Jr. 5’ Sidewalk, west side, 1900 linear feet connecting to
Phase 1 running north to connect to existing sidewalk near intersection of Radford Blvd.
Total cost: $332,063.69
City match: $ 66,412.74 (20% cash or inkind)
Total Investment: $631,601.54
City match: $126,320.31
This was presented to council for their information. City Manager Glen Wagner said they planned to move ahead with the criteria for the grant which includes public advertising, public meetings, support letters, and getting an approved DOT encroachment permit.
