Dillon’s Lady Wildcats hung on to the #2 spot in Class 2A girls basketball in the latest South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association poll.

The Lady Wildcats, currently undefeated at 17-0, were ranked second behind defending lower state champs Bishop England. Mullins, Dillon’s closest competition in Region 8-2A, was ranked third, and Kingstree finished fourth with Andrew Jackson in fifth.

Columbia was ranked sixth, and Fairfield Central, Ninety Six, Pendleton, and Battery Creek rounded out the top 10.

In the Class 2A boys poll, the Wildcats were bumped from the top 10 as Lake Marion, Keenan, Indian Land, Mullins, and Newberry took the top five slots.

Kingstree took sixth place with Edisto, Lake City, Fairfield Central, and Carolina Academy taking the remaining spots.

In the Class A girls polls, Timmonsville took the top spot with Whale Branch in second, Carvers Bay in third, and Hemingway in fourth place.

Cross was ranked fifth, followed by Baptist Hill, Calhoun Falls, Ridge Spring-Monetta, Denmark-Olar, and Wagener-Salley.

The Class A boys poll saw Whale Branch topping the list with St. Joseph’s, Fox Creek, Calhoun Falls, and Greenville Tech rounding out the top five.

Southside Christian, CA Johnson, Great Falls, and Baptist Hill filled out the rest of the list, and Johnsonville slid into the tenth place spot.

In Class 3A, the Orangeburg Wilkinson girls and Travelers Rest boys took the top spots, and in Class 4A, the Dorman girls and Irmo boys were ranked number one.

Varsity action was delayed this week due to the threat of snow, but will resume this Friday for all our local teams.
