Dillon’s Lady Wildcats remained undefeated on Tuesday night as they downed the visiting Marion Swamp Foxes 66-37.

The Lady Wildcats took a 14-5 lead in the first quarter and outpaced Marion 34-15 in the second for a 48-20 lead at the half. Dillon kept up the pressure in the third, going 19-8 for a 67-23 lead heading into the final quarter. Marion managed to go 14-13 in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough to make a dent in the Wildcat lead.

Tyshanna Lester scored a game-high 25 points for Dillon and picked up seven steals with five rebounds in the win. Yolanda Campbell added 13 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, and Brianna Lee scored 12 points with eight steals and five assists for the Wildcats. Tejah Breeden scored four points, and Kendra McLeod and Da’Kerhia Samuel each added three, with Khamele Manning earning one.

Ariaher Morrisey earned 12 points to lead Marion in the effort, with Shatora Dunkin and LaQuesha Kinney each adding eight. Zakiya Mason scored four, Samantha McKenzie scored three, and Laquasha Williams earned two points for the Lady Swamp Foxes, with Kyra Daniels adding one point.

Dillon improved to 16-0 overall and 3-0 in Region 8-2A.

The Lady Wildcats held on too the number two spot in the latest South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association polls, with Bishop England taking first place. The Battling Bishops were the lower state champs in 2013 and are 13-1 so far this season with a 5-0 record in Region 6-2A. Fairfield Central, Mullins, and Kingstree rounded out the top five.

The Wildcats will be at home this Friday, January 24, to host Loris and on Tuesday, January 28, to host Waccamaw. Game times are set for 6:00 p.m., so make plans to attend to support our local team!
