Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators battled their way to a 43-40 win over Creek Bridge on Tuesday night in girls varsity basketball action.

Both teams earned 10 points in the first quarter, but the Lady Gators pulled ahead in the second, going 13-9 for a halftime lead of 23-19. Each team added eight points in the third, and Creek Bridge made a 13-12 push in the fourth, but Lake View held on for the win.

Lake View suffered injuries to four starters in the effort, which was led by Jasmine Ford with 19 points and Olivia McDaniel with 17. Kayla Page added three points in the win, and Diayah Williams and Toni Nash each added two.

Shayla Graves scored a game-high 20 points to lead Creek Bridge, with Akeyha Lakin earning nine, Whitney Green adding six, Jada Gause scoring three, and B. Nichols contributing two.

The Lady Wild Gators improved to 7-5 overall and are now 1-2 in Region 8-2A.

Lake View will host local and regional rival Latta this Friday at 6:00 p.m. Both teams were ranked in the top 10 in the state earlier this season, with Latta climbing as high as fourth place, but the Vikings now hold a 7-4 record and are 2-1 in the Region. In varsity boys action, the Wild Gators fell 59-41 to the visiting Creek Bridge Warriors. Lake View will host Latta this Friday and travel to Green Sea Floyds on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
