The Latta Vikings improved to 2-0 in Region 8-A on Thursday night as they defeated Green Sea-Floyds 69-59 in boys varsity basketball action at Green Sea.
The Latta boys took a 23-10 lead in the first quarter and were ahead 38-26 at the half. Latta outpaced the Trojans 15-11 in the third quarter to stay ahead 53-37. Green Sea rallied 22-16 in the fourth quarter, but the Vikings held on to a 10-point lead for the win.
Tyrell Sabb led Latta with a game-high 21 points and Kartilus McFadden added 19 in the win. Quane Williams scored 13, Diez Mungrow earned five, R.J. McClam added four, and Jordan Simms scored three, with Jordan Smith and C.J. Mace adding two each.
Green Sea -Floyds was led by Gerald with 15 points and McGill with 12. Miles added 9; Bellamy, 8; R. Sanders, 7; Brown, 4; and Jordan, 4.
Latta improved to 3-5 overall and 2-0 in Region 8-A.
The Vikings will host Hannah-Pamplico tonight and will be at Lake View on Friday to face the Wild Gators. Game times are set for 6:00 p.m., so make plans to attend to support our local teams!
