Johnsonville’s Lady Flashes used a strong third quarter to lift them to 54-48 over the Lady Wild Gators on Tuesday night in Lake View to open conference play in Region 8-A.
Johnsonville took a narrow 17-16 lead over Lake View in the first quarter, but the Lady Gators tied things 30-30 with a 14-13 second quarter. But the Flashes pulled ahead in the third, holding Lake View at bay 13-6, and a 12-11 fourth quarter from the Gators wasn’t enough to close the gap.
Crystal Williams led Johnsonville with a game-high 26 points. Tiffany Small and Kayla Ard each earned eight points and Annsley Mace and Cayley Gunter each added six.
Lake View’s Olivia McDaniel earned a team-high 25 points in the effort, with Jasmine Ford adding 16, Pamela Butler scoring five, and Kayla Page adding two.
Lake View slips to 6-4 overall and opens conference play with a 0-1 record in Region 8-A.
In boys basketball action, the Wild Gators fell 76-36 to the visiting Flashes.
Both Wild Gator teams will be on the road this Friday to face Hannah Pamplico and on Tuesday they’ll travel to face Creek Bridge. On Friday, January 24, Lake View will be back home to face local rival Latta at 6:00 p.m. Make plans to attend to support our local teams!
