A 25-year-old man has been charged in the death of  52-year-old Dillon man.
According to Detective Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies Chaddie Hayes and Art Quick were dispatched to do a welfare check on Highway 301 North at Pine Village on Dec. 29. When they arrived, they discovered the body of a man. Coroner Donnie Grimsley identifies this man as Edward Broach, age 52, 2355 Highway 301 North, Lot 11, Dillon. Grimsley said the cause of death is not being released at this time, but that it has been ruled a murder.
Arnette said that the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office worked the case along with SLED Crime Scene and the Dillon County Coroner’s Office. The City of Dillon Police Department assisted in locating and apprehending the suspect.
Arnette said Jonathan Williamson, age 25, has been charged with murder.
Arnette said they are looking into some things to determine what happened, but that the two men were acquaintances.
The lead investigator on this case is Detective Allan Rogers who is being assisted by Reggie Thompson and John Willie Brown.
According to his obituary, Broach was a veteran of the U.S. Armed Services. Funeral services were held last Wednesday. Arrangements were handled by Cooper Funeral Home.
