Dillon’s Lady Wildcats and Latta’s Lady Vikings returned to girls varsity basketball action on Tuesday night in Latta with the Wildcats earning a 76-53 win.

The Lady Wildcats took a 16-9 lead in the first quarter and outpaced Latta 17-15 in the second to lead 33-24 at the half. Dillon went 20-18 over the Vikings in the third and 23-11 in the fourth to seal the win.

Tyshanna Lester led Dillon with a team-high 21 points and Khamele Manning poured in 20 in the win. Yolanda Campbell added 17, and Da’Kerhia Samuel scored 14 with Brianna Lee and Shar’asia Samuel each adding two. Campbell also grabbed a team-high 19 rebounds and Da’Kerhia Samuel picked up 16 in the win.

TaKeria Legette led Latta with a game-high 25 points and 10 assists, and Jessica Evans added 11 points for the Lady Vikings. Brittany Burgess added seven points, Mallory Townsend earned six, and Maya Wright scored four.

Dillon remained undefeated at 11-0 while Latta slipped to 5-2.

The Dillon Wildcats returned to regular season action on Tuesday night with a 72-57 win over the Latta Vikings in boys varsity basketball action in Latta.

Dillon took a 20-12 lead in the first quarter and was ahead 43-27 at the half. The Vikings rallied near the end, narrowly outscoring Dillon 30-29 in the second half, but couldn’t overcome the deficit.

Gabe Salmon led Dillon with a team-high 15 points and Anthony Blue added 10, with Joe Manning scoring nine and Jerome McCloud, Julius Saunders, and Lawrence Crouch each adding eight points. Jaquan Knowlin scored six in the win and Eri’Reon Hayes earned four, with C.J. Sowells and Avery McCall each contributing two.

Latta’s Kartilus McFadden led all scorers with a game-high 20 points and Quane Williams added 13 in the effort. Tyrell Saab and R.J. McClam each scored six; Jordan Smith, 5; Darrin Pernell, 4; and Jordan Simms, 3.

The Wildcats improved to 9-2 overall while Latta slipped to 1-4 in the regular season.

Dillon was scheduled to host South Robeson on Wednesday and will host Latta this Friday, January 10, with both games starting at 6:00 p.m.

Both Dillon and Latta will open region play on Tuesday, January 14, with the Wildcats hosting Aynor and the Vikings hosting Creek Bridge. Both games start at 6:00 p.m.
