Despite a game-high 18 points from Dillon Christian’s Tyler Davis, the Warriors couldn’t get past the Titans on Tuesday night as Trinity-Byrnes defeated Dillon Christian 55-35 in the first varsity boys basketball game of the new year.
Trinity-Byrnes outpaced Dillon Christian in every quarter, taking a 14-8 lead in the first and leading 28-18 at the half. The Titans went 14-6 over the Warriors in the third, and a 13-11 fourth quarter sealed the win.
The Titans were led by Chris McDowell with 12 points, Kimani Williams with 10, and Tyron McElveen with nine. LB Brown added six points; TJ McElveen, 5; Mark Buyck, 4; Michael Pavy, 4; Carson Harwell, 4; and Kris Chapman, 1.
Tyler Davis led all scorers with 18 points and Matthew Price added five for the Warriors. Luke Price and Mark Minges each added four, Will Brown scored three, and Matt Jordan scored one point in the effort.
Trinity-Byrnes improved to 7-4 with a 4-0 record in region play. The Warriors slip to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in Region 4-AA.
The Warriors will host Carolina Academy this Friday, January 10, and The King’s Academy on Tuesday, January 14. Junior varsity action begins at 4:00 p.m. with varsity action following. Make plans to attend to support our local teams!
GIRLS
Dillon Christian’s Lady Warriors fell 61-9 to the Trinity-Byrnes Titans on Tuesday. The Lady Titans led 22-3 at halftime and outpaced the Warriors 39-6 in the second half.
Jamie Carpenter, Samantha Carpenter, and Greta Seay each scored three points for Dillon Christian in the effort.
Brenne Fisher led Trinity-Byrnes with a game-high 21 points and Gabrielle McElveen added 10 in the win. Ayshia Scott scored 9; Janie Fuller, 6; Autman Scotts, 5; Logan Gibbs, 4; and Rosi Clanton, Jaycie Lawson, and Katherine Ferrell each added two.
Trinity-Byrnes improved to 8-1 overall with an undefeated 4-0 record in the region.
