Dillon City Councilman Johnny Eller said he would like to take some of the hospitality money and use it to upgrade the parks. “These parks are bad,” Eller said.
Councilman Phil Wallace said they need to put the parks in the budget and build up the money rather than spend the hospitality money. He said they didn’t need to “nickel and dime” the hospitality fund, but needed to put the parks in the budget.
Councilman John Braddy said they needed to take the same approach that they have taken with the alleyways.
Eller said he did not want to deplete the account.
Wallace said they want the parks to be good, but they don’t want to just throw money at them and they need to be maintained.
Councilwoman Connie Manning said that perhaps they could use some of the hospitality funds for the parks and then budget them in.
City Manager Glen Wagner said they would look into a PARD (Parks and Recreation Department) grant.
