The Dillon Christian School Warriors celebrated homecoming with a 30-0 win over the Village Christian School Knights of Fayetteville, North Carolina, on Friday night at Warrior Stadium. The win puts the Warriors at 3-5 on the season and moves the Knights to 1-7.

Friday night’s game could be described as an ugly win. This is not a reflection on the players of the Warriors or the Knights. Sometimes a game just does not go as planned. Many Warrior fans expected them to put up a lot of offense but they were kept off the score board in the first quarter. Although the Knights offense was somewhat down their defense stepped up on several drives to stop the Warriors.

One of the Warriors top linemen, Ben Boykin, had to leave the game due to a shoulder injury. All Warrior fans are hoping that it was minor and that he can return for next week’s game against Trinity/Byrnes. Also gracing the sideline for homecoming was former Warrior standout John Michael Price, who has been sidelined by a knee injury at Methodist College.

With no score in the first quarter and over half of the second quarter gone, Kelvin Stackhouse plowed through the Knights defense for a 4-yard touchdown run. The point after kick was off, leaving the Warriors up 6-0 with 5:54 left in the second quarter. The first half would end with this score.

Anthony “Red” Williams got the Warriors second score on a 2-yard touchdown run with 6:46 left in the third quarter. Will Brown kicked the extra point to give the Warriors a 13-0 lead. Brown added a 27-yard field goal with 11:12 left in the fourth quarter to put the Warriors up 16-0.

Stackhouse got his second touchdown on an 18-yard run with 10:06 left in the fourth quarter and added a third on a 3-yard run with 6:40 left in the fourth. Brown was good on both extra points to give the Warriors the 30-0 win.

On offense for the Warriors, Kelvin Stackhouse carried 24 times for 194 yards and three touchdowns and caught a pass for 21 yards. Stackhouse only played two and a half quarters. Anthony “Red” Williams had 80 yards on 15 carries with a touchdown; Jim Carr passed for 65 yards; Ellison Rourke had 31 yards on eight carries; Luke Price caught a pass for 22 yards; Will Brown caught a pass for 11 yards and rushed for four yards; Mark Minges caught a pass for eight yards and rushed for eight yards; and Michael Minges added plus yardage rushing.

On defense, Luke Price had nine tackles, two assists; Mathew Price had seven tackles, two assists; Thomas Evans had six tackles with a quarterback sack; Jake Boykin had four tackles with three assists; Hunter Tyner had three tackles with a quarterback sack; Will Brown, Heath Freitas, Mark Minges, and Michael Minges had two tackles with with assists each, with Brown adding a QB sack; Ellison Rourke added a tackle with three assists; Ben Boykin and Anthony Williams added a tackle with Boykin adding a QB sack assist; and Samuel Brown added three tackle assists.

The Warriors will face a very strong region foe in Trinity/Byrnes at home this Friday. A win could give the Warriors a first round home playoff game. The Warriors are hoping to finish the season at 5-5 and make the playoffs with some momentum. Game time for Friday is 7:30 p.m.
