Lake View’s Wild Gators took a 35-16 loss from the Johnsonville Flashes who improved to 3-0 in Region 8-A.
Johnsonville’s Tushai Edwards got the Flashes on the board first, scoring on an 88-yard kickoff return with 11:44 on the clock. Arkealious Williams scored next on a 15-yard run at 8:13, and Edwards struck again on a 66-yard run at 2:16. Lex Tuten kicked all three extra points to give Johnsonville a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Lake View got on the board in the second when Christian McDaniel ran 25 yards for a touchdown. McDaniel scored on a successful conversion run to leave the Gators trailing 21-8 at the half.
Johnsonville widened their lead in the third with two more touchdowns from Edwards, the first a 65-yard run and the second on a three-yard push. The kick failed on the first attempt, but Evan Morris scored on a the conversion to put Johnsonville up 35-8.
Lake View’s Reco Brown ran in the last touchdown of the game with 22 seconds left on the clock, scoring on a 33-yard run in the fourth quarter. Weston Rogers completed the pass to Adam Page for the conversion for the final score of 35-16.
Edwards carried 12 times for 162 yards rushing and had 250 yards of total offense to lead Johnsonville to the win. Johnsonville’s Wesley Cook made 12 tackles on defense for the Flashes and Tyrique Palmer made an interception and a fumble recovery.
The win for Johnsonville puts them at 6-2 for the season with an undefeated 3-0 in Region 8-A. Lake View slips to 3-5 overall with a 2-1 record in the region.
The Wild Gators will be at home for the rest of the regular season, starting with Green Sea Floyds this Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Trojans are 1-6 heading into the matchup.
