In last week’s term of General Sessions, Willie Morrison, a Latta man charged with the 2012 killing of Jesse Barr, pled guilty and was sentenced by Judge Paul Burch to 30 years in prison for the charges of voluntary manslaughter, first degree burglary and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
“Despite the tragic circumstances, we are thankful we were able to get justice for the victim’s family,” said Assistant Solicitor Shipp Daniel, who prosecuted the case.  “The Latta Police Department and SLED did an excellent job in the investigation of this case, and it is because of their work that we are now able to appreciate this resolution.”
Morrison’s two codefendants will likely go to court next month.
