The Dillon Middle School Wildcats took a 24-22 loss from Southside on October 2, but picked up a 24-8 win over Johnakin Middle School on Wednesday, October 9, in B-Team football action.
The Wildcats scored first against Southside, with Diaz Alexander scoring on a 4-yard run to put Dillon the board. Diaz then completed a pass to Jallian Williams for the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead with 4:54 left in the first quarter. But Southside fired back with a 69-yard run from #24 on the first play from scrimmage and a successful conversion run tied the game at 8-8.
Southside’s #24 scored again in the second on a 14-yard run and another successful conversion run put Southside ahead 16-8. The Wildcats tied things again at 6:12 with a 57-yard run from Williams with Alexander following up with the conversion. But with 1:48 left on the clock, Southside scored on a7-yard run to jump ahead 22-16 at the half.
With 3:58 left in the third, Alexander connected with Tim Ratley on a 31-yard pass to tie the game once again at 22-22. But a safety in the fourth gave Southside the win at 24-22.
On offense, Dillon had a total of 124 yards rushing and four yards passing for a total of 128. Williams carried 11 times for 120 yards and Alexander carried 14 times for a total of 12 yards. Ratley carried once for a 2-yard gain and Tydarius McAllister carried once for eight yards. Alexander was 1-of-4 passing for four yards, and Williams punted for 43 yards but it was incomplete.
On defense, Ameer Dunham made four solo tackles and one assist; Te’Ron Bogin and Drae Thompson each made four tackles; George Thompson made two tackles; Jackson Hayes made one tackle, three assists; Diaz Alexander made one tackle, two assists; Rodney Owens made three assists; Shamar McCollum made two tackle assists; Ty’Darius McAllister, Jallian Williams, Demontez Alford, and Zac Lampley made one tackle each; and Shamar Moore made one tackle assist.
Hayes caused one fumble and made two recoveries; McAllister caused a fumble, and Thompson made a recovery.
On Wednesday, the Middle School Wildcats traveled to Marion to face the Johnakin Foxes and bring home a 24-8 win.
Johnakin got on the board first with a 1-yard run from Kalik Faulk. Micah Crawford scored the conversion for an 8-0 lead in the first quarter.
From there it was all Wildcats, with Te’Ron Bogin catching a 30-yard pass and Jallian Williams running in the conversion to tie things 8-8. Drae Thompson scored in the second quarter on a 5-yard run and Diaz Alexander scored the conversion run to put the Wildcats up 16-8.
In the third, the Wildcats sealed the win with a 40-yard run from Williams and Thompson scored the conversion for the 24-8 win.
The Wildcats had a total of 242 yards with 209 rushing and 33 passing. Williams carried eight times for 108 yards, Alexander carried 16 times for 28, Thompson carried three times for 21 yards, and Bogin carried once for two. Alexander completed two of three pass attempts for 33 yards in the air.
On defense, George Thompson and Rodney Owens made five tackles each and Drae Thompson made five tackles and one assist. Jallian Williams made four tackles, two assists; Jackson Hayes made three tackles, three assists; Diaz Alexander and Ameer Dunham made two tackles, one assists; Davis Cook and Tim Ratley made two tackles each; Te’Ron Bogin made one tackle and one assist; and Hunter McGirt made two assists.
Dillon’s Middle School Wildcats are now 3-1. The Wildcats were off this week but will be back in action on Wednesday, October 23, in Darlington at 5:30 p.m.
