The visiting Robert E. Lee Middle School Cavaliers proved a little too much for the young Dillon Christian Middle School Warrior team on Thursday at Warrior Field as they defeated the Warriors 42-14.

The Cavaliers fielded a team blessed with more seasoned eighth graders than the Warriors and had a definite size advantage. The Cavaliers scored two touchdowns in the first quarter to take a 12-0 lead and increased the lead to 26-0 in the second quarter before Garret Collins ran in a touchdown from 67 yards out with 2:22 left in the half. Evan Paul ran in the two point conversion to trail 26-8.

The Cavaliers would counter with 10 seconds left in the second quarter with a touchdown pass to go into the halftime break with a 34-8 lead.

With 3:39 left in the third quarter, Warrior quarterback Bryan Davis hit Garret Collins with a 22-yard touchdown pass. The conversion failed and the Warriors trailed 34-14 with the third quarter ending with this score.

The Cavalier reserve players going against the Warrior reserves managed a touchdown with a two-point conversion with 2:25 left in the game for the 42-14 win.

This was a non-region game with both sides playing all team members and despite the score seemed to have some fun at times.

On offense, Bryan Davis passed for 55 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 31 yards; Garret Collins rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown and caught passes for 55 yards; Evan Paul rushed for two yards and had a two-point conversion; Ian Bethea rushed for three yards; and Jackson Wolfe had five yards rushing.

On defense, Garret Collins had six tackles, two assists; Samuel Coleman had five tackles, two assists; Evan Paul had four tackles, two assists; Hamilton Hodges had three tackles, three assists; John Rourke, Jackson Wolfe, Bryan Davis, Julius Corbett, Ryan Stephens, and Ross Carlyle each made two tackles with two assists; and Ian Bethea, Jacob Dubose, Ian Rowell, John Michael Davis, Austin Healey, and Phillip Corbett each added a tackle with an assist.

The Middle School Warriors will be off this week but resume play on Thursday, October 17, at home with Pee Dee Academy with game time set for 6:00 p.m.
