Mr. Hardy Gaddy, 88, died Sunday at CHS-Marion after an illness.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 2:00 at First Baptist Church of Lake View, SC. Burial followed at Regan Cemetery directed by Cooke Funeral Home of Lake View. The family received friends Tuesday, September 10, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Gaddy was born in Dillon County, SC, the son of Weitus and Nettie Gaddy. Mr. Gaddy served in the army during WWII and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was past president of Farm Bureau, past master and secretary of Blue Masonic Lodge # 142, a member of the Lake View School Board, and a life time trustee of Union United Methodist Church.
He also received the Ford Farm Efficiency Award.
Mr. Gaddy is survived by his wife, Earline Brown Gaddy of the home; sons, Hardy “Chip” Gaddy, Jr.(Alice) and Alan W. Gaddy (Vivian) of Lake View, SC; daughter, Laura Gaddy Britt of Lake View, SC; step-children, Teresa Collins of Loris, SC, Dennis Edwards (Dana) of Marion, SC, Angela Jennings (Ned) of Columbia, Brenda Edwards and Denise Epps of Myrtle Beach, SC, Phelps Ricks of Surfside Beach, SC and Beth Ricks of Mooresville, NC; grandchildren, Page Myers (Joel) of Greenwood, SC, David Gaddy of Clemson, SC, and Kaitlyn Britt of Lake View, SC; step-grandchildren, Christa Lane (David), Jennifer Hardwick (Brad), Dennie Edwards, Christy Page (Chuck), Candice Collins, Amy Collins, Colton Jennings, Mikayla Jennings, Jessica Jennings, Jacob Epps, Zachery Epps, Joshua Ricks, Nathan Ricks, and Daiton Oliphant; 3 great grandchildren, Reagan, Morgan and Collins; 9 step-great grandchildren, Bentley, Bella, Kaylee, Paisley, Hannah, Raegan, Seth, Jonathan and Ava; and special friends and caretakers, Dana Hiott and Virginia Henry.
Mr. Gaddy was preceded in death by first wife, Nancy Lewis Gaddy; brothers, Howard, W.J., Thad and Richard Gaddy and sister, Marie Utley.
