The VFW All State Awards are recognizing the officers and members of the Dillon VFW Post for its outstanding accomplishments.
During the past year, this post was 106% in membership and 100% in community service work. The post presented a VFW Spradly Scholarship for a Dillon County student. This year’s $1000 winner was Smith Gaddy of Latta High School. He will be attending The Citadel. Dillon VFW continues to work closely with CWD Thacker and Sgt. Gray with the JROTC of Dillon High.

The post works with the National Guard in any area that they can assist. The post service commander Jim Chavis continues with his outstanding community service work. He is a retired teacher and he works with the schools in our county on “Voice of Democracy,” “Patriots Pew,” “Teacher of the Year,” and other community service programs.
VFW Post 6091 continues to distribute Buddy Poppies with the help of volunteers November 1-15 each year. One hundred  percent of the proceeds from this distribution go to assist needy active duty veterans, survivors, and their dependents.
All honorably discharged veterans with service in a war are welcome to VFW Post 6091.This includes all Desert Shield/Storm, Bosnia-Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Global War on Terrorism (Expeditionary Medal) veterans.
VFW Post 6091 meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at the post home, 2024 Hwy. 9 East at 7 p.m.
