Dillon’s #3 Anthony Blue picks up seven yards.
Both the Dillon Wildcats and the Latta Vikings earned wins in the Lake View Jamboree on Thursday, August 15, but rainy weather caused problems for other local teams and events.

In Thursday’s Jamboree at Lake View High School, Latta kicked off the evening with a 23-0 win over Hannah-Pamplico. Latta has shown much improvement so far in the preseason in scrimmages against McBee and a meeting with Lake View at South Robeson High School. The Vikings were scheduled to face Chesterfield on Saturday in the Founders Federal Kickoff, but the event as rained out.

Rain also played a role in the Lake View Jamboree when Lincoln was forced to cancel their game against the Wild Gators due to rains and flooding at home. But the Jamboree proceeded with Mullins picking up an 8-0 win over Johnsonville.

The Dillon Wildcats finished off the night with a 35-0 win over Lumberton.

On Friday, the Wildcats squared off against Central in the Dennis Miller Jamboree of Champions at McAlpine Stadium in Bennettsville.

The Wildcats took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter of the two-quarter game, with Joe Blue scoring on a 1-yard run and Anthony Blue getting a 19-yard touchdown. Anthony Blue ran for 90-yards in the first quarter before the Wildcats put in the backups for the second half.

Central managed two touchdowns in the second quarter with Dedrick Robinson’s scoring on an 8-yard run to tie the game 14-14 after two quarters.

In the other Jamboree of Champions games, Lamar defeated Marlboro County 16-14; Hartsville defeated Chesterfield 10-7; Darlington shut-out Cheraw 6-0; and Carvers Bay edged Manning 8-6.

The Dillon Christian School Warriors hosted their own Jamboree on Friday. After a cancellation, the event became a three-team scrimmage with Florence Christian playing one quarter each against Robert E. Lee Academy and Dillon Christian School.

In the first quarter, Florence Christian took a 12-0 win over Robert E. Lee’s Cavaliers. Gordon Washington and Alex James each scored for Florence with Washington rushing for 93 yards and James rushing for 84.

Florence Christian also picked up a win over the Warriors with Washington rushing for 69 yards and a touchdown.

On Saturday, the Founders Federal Kickoff was rained out, but the Geathers Family Jamboree proceeded as planned at Carvers Bay High School.
