DCFD Station Nine

Dillon County Fire Departments Station Two and Station Nine held a training session with Clean Energy Corporation to discuss the safety and operation of the newly commissioned refueling station located at the I-95 Exit 181.
Clean Energy is the largest provider of natural gas fuel for transportation in North America, fueling over 30,000 vehicles each day at approximately 360 fueling stations throughout the United States and Canada.
DCFD members learned about the safe handling of natural gas, overviewed the safety systems that were engineered into the fueling station, emergency response procedures and how to respond to a natural gas emergency at the facility.
The fueling station located in Oak Grove is of strategic importance to the growing market of natural gas demand vehicles with interstates I-20, I-95 and future I-73 in close proximity.
Clean Energy South East Director of Operations, Brook McAllister, hosted the training session stressing how important it was for arriving first responders to understand the principles of natural gas and what to do in they had to respond to a incident.

Clean Energy’s LNG Design Engineer Ayden Manouchehri reviewed the design, operations and safety systems to help DCFD members realize how safe natural gas is in comparison with hydrocarbon fuels and the state of the art design and backup safety systems this fueling system had.
Clean Energy was appreciative of the work done by Chief Larry Cox during the construction phase and thanked both DCFD Station Two and Station Nine members who responded to a sensor alarm in early July.
It meant a lot us that Clean Energy brought their experts in from Atlanta, Ga. and  Newport Beach, California to share information on this new site. It also shows that they are committed to safety.  Thank you CLEAN ENERGY for caring about our safety.
