Former Wildcat Jamie Callahan has been named the New York-Penn League’s Pitcher of the Week.

Callahan is currently playing for Boston Red Sox shortseason affiliate the Lowell Spinners. He picked up his second win on the mound on Friday, July 26, as the Spinners defeated Connecticut 6-0. Callahan struck out eight in six innings, knocking down the first 15 batters and allowing only one hit in the sixth inning. The runner was taken out on a double play.

Callahan has a 2-1 record on the mound for the Spinners this season, appearing in six games for 27.2 innings pitched. He’s struck out 23 and walked nine while allowing 25 hits and 14 earned runs with an ERA of 4.55.

Callahan’s first win on the mound came on June 21 when Lowell defeated Tri-City 4-0. Callahan pitched five innings for one hit, three outs, and two walks in his first start of the season.

Callahan was the first pitcher from Lowell to win Pitcher of the Week honors since the first week of the 2012 season. Callahan is currently the youngest pitcher in the New York-Penn League.
