McLeod Carmichael came up big at the dish and on the rubber, leading Latta All Stars to a 6-1 win over Hampton/ Varnville on Saturday at Clemson, SC.
McLeod had a hot bat for Latta. He went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. McLeod shut down Hampton/Varnville while he was on the mound allowing no earned runs, no walks and striking out four.
Hunter Sawyer got the win for Latta. He pitched two shutout innings. Hunter struck out four, walked one and surrendered one hit.
Latta All Stars got its bats going early, scoring five runs in the first inning to pull ahead of Hampton/Varnville. Deonte Stanley, Trey Anderson, Nate Lee, and Jamison Herring each picked up a runner at bat. Anderson also had a double in the game.
The fourth inning saw Hampton/Varnville score its only run on the day on a solo home run by Matt Poston.
Latta was scheduled to face Clemson Central on Sunday.
