The Isham and Mary Watson Descendants Association Reunion was held on Sunday, June 23 at Antioch Church in Sellers.
The reunion has been taking place annually since 1904.
President Michael C. Watson led the meeting.
Senator Thomas McElveen, one of two South Carolina Senators in attendance, gave the invocation followed by the hymn, “Faith Of Our Fathers.”
The minutes of the last meeting and the treasurer;s report were given followed by the collection.
Memorials, which included the lighting of a candle for family members who passed away since the last reunion, was held. This was done by Ginny McGill Kirk and Leslie McGill McKenzie.
The congregation then sung “Blest Be The Tie That Binds.”
President Watson then did special recognitions. The oldest family member in attendance was 93 years old. The family member who traveled the longest distance was from Hawaii (5,744 miles). The youngest family member in attendance was eight months old. After recognitions, the scholarship award was presented. Students must write an essay about their family heritage. This year’s winner was Olivia Wall.
The roll call by family branch then took place. The William Watson branch had the most in attendance.
This was followed by the hymn, “God Be With You ‘Til We Meet Again.”
Senator Yancey McGill then gave the benediction and grace.
Music for the service was provided by Laurel Ammons.
After the meeting, lunch was held on the grounds.
