Minister Sylvester Sarratt is the pastor-elect for the New Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church.
Minister Sylvester Sarratt was born in Charlotte, NC to the late Sylvester Hall and Lillie Inez Sarratt and was raised in New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte. He started attending Providence Presbyterian Church with his father and later returned to New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with his mother.
He graduated cum laude from Barber-Scotia College in Concord, NC with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration/Accounting.
Minister Sarratt moved to Florence in 1990 and is presently employed by Williamsburg County Department on Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services as a Certified Addictions Counselor II and Case Manager. He also serves as a multiple family therapist where he conducts counseling with clients and their families.
He has been a member of Mount Rona Baptist Church in Effingham since 1992. He has served as a Trustee, member of the Mass Choir, Associate Minister, coordinated the new members classes, and assisted in various other roles to meet the needs of the members and community. His initial sermon was held on September 9, 2007 under the leadership of the late Pastor Dr. Truman C. Tart.
Minister Sarratt is married to the former Tanga Franks and they have one son, Sharod of Spartanburg. He has one brother, Larry Sarratt and a very special aunt, Christine Oates, both of Charlotte.
