Mr. Edwin F. “Buddie” Horne, Jr., passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013 at McLeod Medical Center of Florence, after an illness.
A funeral service will be Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Lake View, directed by Cooke Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lake View Perpetual Cemetery. The family received friends on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Lake View.
Mr. Horne was born in Dillon County, the son of Edwin F. Horne, Sr. and the late Elsie Lupo Horne. Mr. Horne was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake View, where he served as the Sunday School Secretary and a former Deacon. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was also a member and former President of Lake View Lion’s Club. He has served as a fireman since 1971 and as an EMT since 1973 in Dillon County. He was the Fire Engineer and former Chief of Dillon County Fire Station #3. He was a member of Whitehouse Volunteer Fire Department and also a former Chief of Lake View Fire Department.
Surviving Mr. Horne is his wife, Gale Jackson Horne of the Home; son, Johnny Pridgen (Donna) of Marion; daughters, Courtney H. Scott (Arnold) and Whitney H. Johnson (Jason): brother, George Horne (Susan); sister, Judy Harrison (James); grandchildren, Brennan Scott, Braedyn Scott, Brixton Scott, Jaylyn Johnson, Brittany Pridgen, and VJ Pridgen.
