The South Carolina Barbeque Association advanced Dan Shine of Latta to the highest rank of Master Judge in a ceremony at Coastal Carolina University recently.
“Dan showed the highest level of judging proficiency and accuracy while professionally judging barbeque,” said Morrey Thomas of the SCBA.
“Dan judged in over 30 contests and plus cooked with several competition BBQ teams to achieve this honor. Shine has been a member of the SCBA since 2007 and is one of 40 Master Judges in our association which has over 750 members.”
The South Carolina Barbeque Association judges 40 competitions around the state annually.
Aspiring new novice judges must complete a daylong seminar held twice a year, plus train under a Master Judge for 4 events to become a certified barbeque judge.
