The Lake View Wild Gators earned a 13-6 win over Green Sea-Floyds at home on Thursday night in varsity baseball action.
The Gators took a 6-0 lead in the first inning, but the Trojans responded with five runs in the top of the second to trail by one. Lake View scored two runners in the bottom of the third to pull ahead and widened the gap with four in the fifth and one in the sixth for a 13-5 lead. The Trojans managed one run in the top of the seventh to end the game.
Lake View’s Carson Rogers got the win in relief, pitching 4.3 innings with no hits, one walk, and eight outs. Green Sea-Floyds’ Austin Faulk took the loss, giving up six hits, six runs, and two earned runs.
Hunter Walters went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs to lead Lake View at bat, and Luke Newell went 2-for-3 with a home run. Eric Munoz and Chris Ford each went 2-for-4 for the Gators, who had 15 hits and two errors in the win.
Green Sea-Floyds’ Berry led the Trojans at bat with a triple and three RBIs. The Trojans had four hits and five errors.
Lake View improved to 15-1 overall and 8-1 in Region 8-A. Their only loss of the season came from the Latta Vikings, who are currently 16-2 and 9-0 in the region.
Lake View hosts Latta tonight at 5:30 p.m. to determine the region championship. Make plans to attend one of the most anticipated local games of the season!
