The 8u Dillon Diamondbacks played in the Dillon County Slugfest on Saturday, April 6, in Dillon and won first place.

The Diamondbacks started the day at 8:30 a.m. with a 16-3 pool game victory against the Southern Sandsharks.

They began bracket play with a 15-7 win over the Port City Thunder.

Next, the Diamondbacks defeated the Dixie Divas 13-10 to advance to the championship game.

In the Championship game, the Diamondbacks lost 15-6 to the Dixie Divas for their first loss of the day and forced a 1-inning shootout for the title. However, the 1-inning shootout turned into a 3-inning shootout in which both teams battled hard, showed lots of heart, and gave it everything they had. The Diamondbacks prevailed 8-7 to claim the championship and the fans got to see some of the best 8u softball around.

The Diamondbacks have won back to back championships and are five in a row dating back to last year.
