Latta’s Lady Vikings split last week’s games against Chesterfield and Hannah-Pamplico, taking an 11-1 loss from the Rams while shutting out the Raiders 10-0.

On Wednesday, April 10, Latta hosted Chesterfield, with the Lady Rams taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Latta got one run on the board in the bottom of the second, but neither team could score again until the top of the fifth, when Chesterfield added three runs for a 5-1 lead. The Lady Rams capped the win with a six-run seventh inning for a final score of 11-1.

Chesterfield’s J. Brock got the win on the mound, pitching all seven innings for three hits, one run, four walks, and five outs. Anna Rogers took the loss for Latta, pitching three innings for three hits, two runs, and one out. Dori Webster pitched three innings in relief for Latta, striking out two. Kurstin Hopkins and Tori Grimsley also spent time on the mound for the Vikings.

Chesterfield’s N. Hatcher led the Rams at bat, going 3-for-4 with a double, and Krystan White went 2-for-4 while Tiffany Watson went 2-for-3. The Rams had 13 hits and two errors in the win.

Tori Grimsley had a double to lead Latta, going 1-for-2, while Camryn Sawyer was 1-for-3. The Lady Vikings had just three hits and seven errors in the loss.

On Thursday, Latta hosted Hannah-Pamplico, getting off to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first quarter. The Lady Vikings added one run in the second and two in the third to lead 8-0, and Latta sealed the shut out with two runs in the fifth for the 10-0 win.

Anna Rogers earned the win for Latta on the mound, pitching five innings for three hits and three walks while striking out 11. Lindsey Prosser took the loss, pitching all five innings for four earned runs, eight hits, three walks, and four outs.

Tori Grimsley went 3-for-4 at bat with three runs and two RBIs to lead Latta. Madison Owens went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, Macy Hatta went 1-for-3 with three RBIs, and Raven Baxley went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. The Lady Vikings had eight hits in the win.

Hannah-Pamplico was led by Taylor Evans, who went 2-for-3 with a double. The Raiders had three hits and six errors in the loss.

With the week’s games, Latta improved to 8-9 overall and 4-2 in Region 8-A.

The Lady Vikings were scheduled to be at South Florence on Monday night for a double header and will be at Green Sea-Floyds on Wednesday and at Lake View on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
