Services for Ella Penolia Byrd Monahan will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Monahan Family Cemetery. Visitation is 7-9 Tuesday in the funeral home.
Mrs. Byrd, 84, died Sunday in McLeod Medical Center of Dillon.
Born in Dillon County, July 7, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William Bryd and Lois Grantham Byrd. She was the widow of the late William W. Monahan. She was a member of East Marlboro Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Barbara Kersey (Clarence) of Latta, Callie Jane Turner of Dillon, Wayne Monahan (Rosemary) of Hopkins, Alice Singleton (Dave) of Summerton, S.C., Roger Monahan of Latta, Rita Martin(Teenie) of Latta and Donna Monahan of Latta; special friends, Lily Mae Jackson and Stella Clark; sisters, Lois Walters of St. Paul, N.C. and Joyce Jackson of Latta; brother, Robert Byrd of Latta; 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Monahan was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Turner.
