Latta’s Lady Vikings defeated the Hannah-Pamplico Raiders 67-36 on Friday night at home in Latta to remain undefeated in Region 8A girls basketball.
The Lady Vikings jumped out to a 23-0 start in the first and outscored the Raiders 16-10 in the second to lead 39-10 at the half. Latta widened the gap with a 13-5 third quarter, and despite a 21-15 rally from the Lady Raiders in the fourth, the Vikings retained the win.
Tianna Deberry earned a game-high 23 points and TaKeria Legette added 11 in the win. Jessica Evans scored 10 points, Maya Wright added nine, Mallory Townsend scored six, and Tamera Campbell earned three, with Michia Johnson, Brittany Burgess, and Kierra Johnson each contributing two points in the win.
Hallie Ard led Hannah-Pamplico with a team-high 11 points and Jazaria Gaddy added nine. Sharane Fleming scored six points for the Raiders and Talicia Murphy and Logan Jordan each earned four in the loss.
Latta improves to 15-2 for the season and 8-0 in Region 8A.
The Lady Vikings will wrap up the regular season on the road this week as they take on Johnsonville tonight and travel to Lake View on Thursday. The Lady Flashes are 9-9 overall and 7-1 in the region, meaning a loss to Johnsonville would tie the Vikings and the Flashes for first place. But the Lady Vikings defeated Johnsonville 85-39 in their first encounter on January 22.
