AMERICAN RED CROSS VOLUNTEER James Leslie is shown in Far Rockaway, Queens, New York. Leslie was one of 2,600 Red Cross volunteers from all over the country who came to the area to help with the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy. Leslie said on this street several stores and apartments were engulfed in flames during the storm. Due to the fire, several families had to evacuate the building behind him. They faced burning in the fire or the flooding in the street. There were no casualties at this building. Leslie’s service was from Oct. 31 until Nov. 18. (Contributed Photo)
