The Lake View Wild Gators earned their second win of the season on Tuesday night as they defeated the visiting Wolverines 52-44, while the Lady Gators scored their first win as they edged East Clarendon 54-53.

Lake View outscored East Clarendon 14-6 and 13-8 in the opening quarters to lead 27-14 at the half. But the Wolverine returned from the break for a 16-5 third quarter to cut the Wild Gators’ lead to 32-30. But Lake View held off the Wolverine attack in the fourth to outscore East Clarendon 20-14 and seal the 52-44 win.

Lake View’s Chris Ford and East Clarendon’s Jearl Harrison each scored 20 points to lead their respective teams.

Jamal Ford added 13 points for Lake View. Michael Paige scored 10, Darius Leonard added seven, and Jeremy Moody earned two points for the Wild Gators.

East Clarendon’s McFadden added 11 points; Fleming, 7; Ham, 4; and Floyd, 2.

In recent girls’ basketball action, the Lady Wild Gators suffered a string of losses against Class 2A foes. On Wednesday, December 12, Lake View fell 52-33 to East Clarendon, and on Friday, December 14, the Lady Gators fell 37-27 to Aynor.

But the Lady Wild Gators picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday as they edged East Clarendon 54-53.

The Wild Gators improved to 2-4 overall for the season and the Lady Gators improved to 1-5 as they wrapped up play for the year. Lake View will return to action on Tuesday, January 8, when they travel to Johnsonville to begin region play.
