The Dillon Christian School Warriors lost hard fought games against the Williamsburg Academy Stallions on Friday, December 7, with the girls falling 28-18 and the boys taking a 38-34 loss in overtime at home in Dillon.
The Lady Stallions jumped out to a 12-2 lead in the first quarter and held onto a 15-6 lead at the half. The Lady Warriors inched closer to Williamsburg while holding the Stallions to just two points in the third, but Williamsburg pulled ahead 23-18 in the fourth, and added five points in the final minute of the game for the 28-18 win.
Lauren Lee led the Lady Warriors with a team-high 10 points, with Amanda Bass adding seven and Kylee Sullivan scoring one. Makalai Sweat picked up eight rebounds, with Sullivan grabbing seven, Kathryn Brown, six; Amanda Bass, five; and Sarah Fitzgibbon, four. Bass also made three steals for the Warriors.
In the boys’ game, the Warriors took a 10-6 lead in the first quarter and were up 19-10 in the half. But the Stallions managed to tie things up in the second half, and the Warriors fell 38-34 in
overtime.
Matthew Price led Dillon Christian with a team-high 11 points and 10 rebounds. John Michael Price scored nine points and seven rebounds; Will Brown added six points and made three steals; Matt Jordan sank four points with three rebounds; Mark Minges scored two points with two rebounds; and Jim Carr added two points for the Warriors.
The varsity Warriors are each 1-4 in the regular season with 0-2 records in the region.
In junior varsity action, the JV boys picked up a 27-15 win over the Stallions while the girls fell 22-13.
Tonight, the junior varsity and varsity Warriors will be hosting The King’s Academy Lions with j.v. action beginning at 4:00 p.m. On Friday, the Warriors will be at Marlboro Academy for their final game before the holiday break.
