Mrs. Grace Alford Herring, 90, widow of Joseph D. Herring entered into rest on November 10, 2012.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home.  
Relatives and friends wereinvited to attend her funeral services on Monday, November 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Cooper Funeral Home.  Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Herring was born March 25, 1922, in the Cedar Creek section of Horry County.  She was one of four daughters and two sons born to William Gordon and Reba Willoughby Alford.  
She was of the protestant faith.  She was a 1940 graduate of Dillon High School.  She began her career in Dillon where she was secretary to Superintendant J.V. Martin, who taught her that anything could be done, that she could do it accurately and on time.  
Later she was secretary to C.C. Thomas, Jr., Clerk of Court.  From 1960-1976 she and her husband operated Joe Herring Appliance and Furniture.  In 1997, she retired from Dillon County Farm Bureau.
 Surviving Mrs. Herring are James M. (Cindy) Herring of Dillon, and Robert K. (Gail) Herring of Elizabeth City, NC; two sisters, Bernice A. Summerlin of Dillon and Juanice A. Terry of Florence, SC; one brother, Malcolm H. Alford of Dillon; nieces,  Janet Everhardt Windham (Chuck), Vicki Alford Jarvi (Dennis), Donna Summerlin Everett (Jeff),  Tina Summerlin, Melissa Terry Stallard (Roger), Bonnie H. Reid, Patricia H. Page, Sandy J. Truax, Susan J. Turner, and Becky T.  Poston (Robert); nephews, John C. Alford, Jr., Jack C. (Darlene) Alford, Joe C. (Sandy) Summerlin, Jr., Stan (Donia) Terry,  Duane Terry, Steve (Joy) and Billy (Julie) Herring, Ricky (Lynn) Jackson, Kenny (Denise) and Darryl (Holly) Taylor, and Danny (Sara) Price.
Mrs. Herring was predeceased by her sister, Gladys A. Everhardt; her brother, John Carlie Alford; two nephews, Ezra L. Herring, Jr. (Butch),  Danny Everhardt, and Russell Taylor; nieces, Debbie Kinsey, and Diane Price; and one great niece, Lisa Redd.
