On September 26th, 2012, some worthy cadets were promoted to a higher rank according to their accomplishments and potential for the acceptance of more responsibility. Before the names of the individuals that were promoted are revealed, the Wildcat Battalion would like to thank Dillon School District 4 Superintendent Mr. Ray Rogers, Dillon High School Principal Mr. Shawn Johnson, and family members for their time and support by coming to help assist with the promotions.
The command and control of the Dillon High School Wildcat Battalion was transferred to a new commander, Brittney George, who was promoted to Cadet Lieutenant Colonel. Mr. Ray Rogers and CW4 Harold Thacker made his promotion.
Next on the agenda were the promotions of the command group.
These cadets were promoted based on the number of years that they have been in JROTC, experience, potential, and for their assigned duty.
First to be promoted was Bonnie Fields, the Command Sergeant Major (CSM), so she was promoted to Command Sergeant Major. Next was the Executive Officer (XO), Jacob Stagg, he was promoted to Cadet Major. Stacie Clements will be the Alpha Company Commander, so she was promoted to Cadet First Lieutenant (1LT). Ty-Quan Jones will be the Alpha Company First Sergeant, so he was promoted to First Sergeant (1SG). Kayla Wallace will be the Bravo Company Commander, so she was promoted to Cadet Captain (CPT). Cecil Smith will be the Bravo Company First Sergeant; he was promoted to First Sergeant (1SG). Mr. Johnson and Cadet LTC George made these promotions.
The First Platoon Leader, Dyquashia Johnson, was promoted to Cadet Second Lieutenant (2LT). The First Platoon Sergeant, Spencer Haywood, he was promoted to Cadet Sergeant First Class (SFC). The Second Platoon Leader, Latira Armstrong, was promoted to Cadet Second Lieutenant (2LT). The Second Platoon Sergeant, Pamela Robinson, was promoted to Cadet Sergeant First Class (SFC). The Fourth Platoon Leader, Kyle Church, was promoted to Cadet Second Lieutenant (2LT). The Fourth Platoon Sergeant, Takeria Davis, she was promoted to Cadet Sergeant First Class (SFC). CW4 Thacker and Cadet LTC George made the Platoon Leader promotions while SFC Gray and Cadet CSM Bonnie Fields made the Platoon Sergeant promotions.
Last on the agenda were the promotions of the staff members. The Personnel Officer (S1), Tadean Page, was promoted to Cadet First Lieutenant (1LT). The Security Officer (S2), Alma Gerald, was promoted to Cadet Second Lieutenant (2LT). The Operations Officer (S3), Geonary Gillespie, was promoted to Cadet Second Lieutenant (2LT).
The Supply Officer (S4), Shea Carmichael, was promoted to Cadet Master Sergeant (MSG). The Publicity Officer (S5), Shar’Asia Samuel, was promoted to Master Sergeant (MSG). Cadet Major Stagg and Cadet LTC George made these promotions.
The Wildcat Battalion’s first year cadets will soon undergo five tests that will determine their future promotions.
The first test will be a general knowledge test comprised of the following subject areas: drill and ceremony, chain of command, etc. Next will be the drill and ceremony test, which will be performance-based.
The second test is the Cadet Challenge, a five event physical assessment (modeled after the President’s Physical Fitness Challenge).
The third test is the drill evaluation, a series of drill movements that the cadet will be graded on how well he or she executes each.
The final test will be a Promotion Board, which consists of the cadet presenting him- or herself in front of three advanced cadets.
The advanced cadets will judge the cadet on military appearance, military bearing, knowledge, and Cadet Creed.
