Latta’s junior varsity Vikings defeated Green Sea-Floyds 30-6 on Thursday, October 18, to finish the season with an undefeated 7-0 record.

On Latta’s opening play, ninth-grade running back CJ Mace ran for an 80-yard touchdown but failed to score on the two-point conversion. Latta’s defense only allowed the JV Trojans one first down in the first half of play, and before the end of the quarter, Mace scored again on a 7-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion was good on a connection from quarterback Colby Lee to Jackson Williams for a 14-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Latta’s Kartilus McFadden scored on a 17-yard touchdown run and the Vikings made another successful two-point conversion as Lee connected with Williams once more.

After a rare turnover from the Vikings, Green Sea-Floyds drove the ball successfully down the field but Latta’s defense prevented them from scoring. After driving the ball most of the field, Latta’s Lee connected with eighth-grader Damien “Skeeter” Braddy for a 7-yard touchdown, his first of the year. The two-point conversion was good on a run by seventh-grade running back Jamarcus Legette. The Trojans scored late on a touchdown catch for the final score of 30-6.

Latta finished the season 7-0 and first place in region play, something that hasn’t been done in quite some time. A tough defense and a strong running game assisted Latta in this successful season.

The coaches, players, and administration staff would like to thank all the parents and fans for their help and support!
