THE QUESTION:
Why do you think people should shop locally?
Larry Cox says:
“We all should shop locally. Small businesses are what drives our local economy. When we shop at big businesses the money leaves our local area. Shop locally and the locals will spend that money here at home again Spend your money at home, I believe it makes a difference.”
Carley Wiggins says:
“I have seen so many little towns in just the Pee Dee area become ‘Ghost Towns’ because people want to shop at the big box stores out of town. People have forgotten about the “Little Man” who has done us so many favors over the years. Stores are empty and boarded up that used to be thriving businesses. We drive thirty or forty miles so save a penny, when gas is close to $4.00 gallon. When I ride down the streets of Dillon today, I don’t see the family owned businesses that made this town what it is. We don’t realize that when we spend money out of our county, we are taking tax money that could help support our schools, county and city government and help keep our taxes lower. Support your home town merchants and help to keep our communities alive. “
